City of North Liberty is Hiring a Police Officer Near North Liberty, IA

The City of North Liberty is accepting applications for full-time Police Officers. Certified law enforcement officers are preferred but will accept and train uncertified candidates. Ideal candidates are community focused, have good judgement, excellent problem-solving skills, and want to serve others in a supportive environment. Applicants must meet minimum standards found at FAQs | ILEA (iowa.gov), have a good driving record, pass a background investigation, and reside within 30 miles of the corporate city limits within one (1) year of hire. Post-offer psychological exam, physical, background screen and drug screen are required. Applicants will be contacted for interviews and testing.

All non-certified applicants will be required to take the written (P.O.S.T.) if they have not tested within the past eight (8) months at another agency, with an overall passing score of 70% or higher. A study guide and a practice test can be obtained through Stanard and Associates at https://www.applytoserve.com/Study/. Testing dates and locations for non-certified applicants will be announced at a later date.

Applicants who are current certified law enforcement officers are eligible for a lateral transfer. The City may consider buying out current employment contracts. The current salary range is $58,156 to $82,430, with steps maxed out at 12 years of service, plus an excellent benefit package. Officers work 12-hour shifts, have every other weekend off, and have access to the latest training, technology, and equipment, as well as a new police facility.
